"Unconditional Surrender"

San Diego (Feb. 10, 2007) - The statue “Unconditional Surrender,” which represents a famous photo taken by Alfred Eisenstaedt of a Sailor kissing a nurse in Time Square, New York City 1945, was dedicated to the city of San Diego. Edith Shain, the nurse in the photo and guest of honor at the ceremony greeted the crowd. U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist Seaman David A. Brandenburg.

Wow, it was so neat to see this, it's huge, just amazing and beautiful to see in person. The sunset that night was spectacular too!
My son Luke came in 62nd as a co-angler for the tournament. The cut to fish today is #30 so he didn't get to fish today. He ended up with 4 fish at 6 .7 lbs. for the two days. I think that's pretty good for his 2nd tournament and 200 entries as co-anglers. He got a lot of experience and great contacts so it was a success. He is heading back to MN this weekend, can't wait to see him, he's been gone for 3 wks. His next tournament is April 30-May 2nd in Decatur Alabama on Wheeler Lake. Hopefully Gordy and I can go to that one.
It's supposed to be in the 30's today, we're having a tropical heat wave, lol! You will probably see some hardy souls out in shorts today they will think it is so warm after the freezing cold temps we've had here this winter. I wish it would melt some of our 3 ft of snow on the ground but I don't' think it will since it is only going to last one day then cool back down for a while again. Today might be a good day to go sledding, my brother from Florida that just moved here wants to, we'll see.
I bet your wondering when I'm gonna get back to crafting. I plan to take next week and get my craft room cleaned and organized then hopefully get back to work real soon. I am feeling the itch to get to work. I took both of my sewing machines in to get cleaned and tuned up so I thought while they are in the shop I need to organize for the year. Also working on taxes, fun stuff huh! Have a wonderful safe weekend everyone!

Luke is in another BASS fishing tournement!

My son Luke is in another BASS tournament it started today! It's in Taveres Florida on the Harris Chain of lakes. I am so nervous, I hope he does really good. I just checked the weather there and it doesn't look too good though. They say if it isn't warm the fish don't bite as good there in Florida they like it sunny and warm like I do, lol. It's in the low 70's and cloudy and tomorrow the high is only in the 50's with a chance of rain both days, ewww. He comes back in at 3:30 Eastern time today. This is the website if you want to watch the live weigh in it starts at 3:00:
ESPN - Event Info: Southern Open #1 (Harris Chain)
You know I'll be watching! He will fish for sure today and tomorrow but then only on Saturday if he gets in the top 30 or something. Keep you fingers crossed!!!

Beautiful flowers!

Aren't these flowers gorgeous! These are some of the beautiful flowers I saw in San Diego. I just LOVE flowers! Maybe they will brighten up all of your day a little and you can think of spring and summer. That is what I am trying to do. All of you out there that live in place that you get to see these outside where you live right now are so lucky you don't even know!!!! It is just brown and white here right now where I live, not a big fan! Well anyway did I say how much I love flowers! I'm so glad that I got to get away to a warmer place for a little while and I wish the same for any of you who are in a cold climate right now too. Hope you are all staying warm and cozy!

I'm back from vacation!

These are some of the pictures from my vacation. My brother Al, my sister Renee and I first flew to Denver for a few days. I didn't take any pictures in Denver, I forgot to take out my camera in all the excitement. I got to see my daughter Rochelle, my nephews Eric, Matthew and Scott, his girlfriend Casey, and my brother in law Gene while I was there. We stayed at the Hyatt in downtown Denver, thanks so much to my son in law Kevin for getting us that great room. It was a whirlwind blast of two days, so much fun and GREAT to see everyone! Then my sister Cathy who lives near Denver joined Al, Renee and I and we flew to San Diego. We stayed in San Diego for 3 days then drove to Yuma AZ to see my parents that are wintering there. The weather in San Diego could not have been nicer sunny and in the 70's and 80's the whole time. Needless to say I LOVED it!!! We went to lots of different beaches and walked in the sand. The water was FREEZING so no swimming but lots of walking on beaches. The weather in AZ was also beautiful in the 70's and 80's also. It was GREAT seeing my parents and getting there cozy hugs. My dad's 2 sisters and their husbands came to see us from the Phoenix area it was great seeing them too. The whole trip was AWESOME!
It's good to be home now, I missed Gordy but I sure wish it wasn't winter here! Cold weather and snow are hard to come back to. What a reality check it's been it's only in the single digits for highs here today, YUCK! Now I am hoping for any early spring, lol.

Zoe is sad today!

Zoe is sad today because Luke left for Florida this morning. Luke is her favorite person in the family. I took this picture with my Blackberry, it's a little blurry isn't it, I'll have to work on that. I'm trying to set it up so I can post from it so wherever I go I can still post. Wow, things are so much more complicated than they should be or is it just me, lol! Be patient with me I my have some weird post for a few day until I get this figured out.

So Luke is leaving early for Florida is first BASS tournament starts on Jan. 29th but he needs to get there a few days before that for registration and pre-fishing. He going to golf, fish and enjoy the sunshine, hopefully there will be plenty of that for him. He doesn't like winter either just like his Mom so he is really looking forward to warm weather. I sure hope this tournament goes good for him!

New laptop bag!

I made this laptop bag for my daughter. I also made one for my son but it was not girly looking like this one, it's black. My daughter travels a lot for work so I thought this would come in handy for her. They turned out really good so now I think I'll make some to sell, it's kinda hard though because there are different size laptops, my son and my daughters were both different sizes. Not sure if it will work to make them or not.
My son Luke leaves soon to travel to Taveres Fla for his first BASS tournament of the year. Go Luke, win the bass boat! He's looking forward to getting away from this cold snow weather for some Florida sunshine.
Next week I'm going to Denver for a couple days to visit my daughter then to San Diego then drive to Yuma AZ to see my parents that are wintering there. I'm going with one of my brothers and two sisters. Hopefully we have sunny warm weather there. So excited!
Hope your all having a wonderful week!

Big catch!

My husband Gordy caught this nice 22" Walleye on Leech lake a couple weeks ago. He released it back into the lake right after this picture was taken. We went to Mille Lacs lake on New Years eve and stayed overnight in our fish house. We have a big sleeper fish house that sleeps 6 people. The fish weren't biting there but it was fun anyway. I prefer fishing in a boat on a nice summer day better than ice fishing on a frozen lake though.
Our hearts are heavy today, we had some very sad news yesterday, one of Gordy's best friends passed away from his battle with brain cancer. He was a wonderful fun-loving guy and he will be so greatly missed by his family and many friends.
I am hoping to do some sewing today. I want to make my daughter and my son a laptop bag and myself a zipper carry on bag for my upcoming trip.
Hope your all having a great weekend. Hugs!
